- Minimum 5 gallons of water per person stored in sealed plastic containers
- A large cooler or ice-chest, preferably at least 2. Ice may be scarce after the storm, stock up early.
- Non-perishable food
- Manual can opener
- Battery-operated or hand-crank radio
- Land-line telephone, cell-phone towers may be damaged by the storm
- Fully charged cell-phone as a backup
- First Aid Kit
- Flashlights and extra bulbs
- Extra supplies of all prescription medications
- Personal documents
- Signal whistle
- Emergency flare
- Clock (wind-up or battery-operated)
- Hand tools
- Shutters
- Utility knife
- Waterproof matches or disposable lighters
- Work Gloves and boots
