Hurricane Survival Kit



Don't delay; when the power goes out and public services are limited your hurricane kit may be your life line during and after the storm. Make sure your kit is fully stocked and ready for use well ahead of the storm. Avoid the long lines the day before the storm, get your supplies now!

Your Hurricane Kit should include the following items click the links for more information:

ESSENTIALS
  • Minimum 5 gallons of water per person stored in sealed plastic containers
  • A large cooler or ice-chest, preferably at least 2. Ice may be scarce after the storm, stock up early.
  • Non-perishable food
  • Manual can opener
  • Battery-operated or hand-crank radio
  • Land-line telephone, cell-phone towers may be damaged by the storm
  • Fully charged cell-phone as a backup
  • First Aid Kit
  • Flashlights and extra bulbs
  • Extra supplies of all prescription medications
  • Personal documents
  • Signal whistle
  • Emergency flare
  • Clock (wind-up or battery-operated)
TOOLS
  • Hand tools
  • Shutters
  • Utility knife
  • Waterproof matches or disposable lighters
  • Work Gloves and boots
  • Rain gear
  • Extra batteries
  • Fully charged battery-operated lanterns.
  • Working fire extinguishers

SANITATION
  • Trash bags
  • Aluminum foil and plastic wrap
  • Mess kits, plastic cups, plates and utensils
  • Liquid detergent
