Hardware Supplies



  • It is recommended that only code-compliant and approved hurricane shutters be used to protect your windows and doors during a storm

  • If plywood is used, use 4x8-foot sheets of plywood 5/8-inch to 1/2-inch thick to put over windows. Ask for exterior plywood.

  • Work gloves

  • Work boots

  • Hand tools - a hammer, screwdrivers, hand saws, shovel and pickax for after the storm

  • If you use a chainsaw to clear debris, exercise extreme caution and consult the safety guide included with your saw.

  • Power screwdriver
     
  • 1/4 machine screw sockets and screws
     
  • Assorted nails
     
  • Plastic sheeting to cover furniture
     
  • Rope
     
  • Duct tape to waterproof items; masking tape isn't strong enough.
     
  • Canvas or plastic tarps
